Louis Agassiz Shaw Jr.’s home is raided by Boston police.

April 28, 1921

Police confiscate liquor and an illegal still at the Harvard Medical School professor’s home at 6 Marlborough Street. Although charges are dropped because of a defective warrant, the federal government places a lien on the property for Agassiz’s failure to pay taxes on contraband and the equipment. Although he pays the fees under protest, Agassiz brings suit in federal court to be reimbursed.
